The Banbury phonebox library sits outside St John’s RC Church and was the idea of an anonymous person last year to help spread the love of reading across the town. It was well received by residents living in Banbury before telecommunications giant BT served it an eviction notice.
But the ending was a happy one as an agreement was reached between BT and Banbury Town Council, and with some help from Hawkins Steel Ltd, a new separate phonebox library was installed next to the original one last month.
